Just stuff....

Nothing much new to report here, other than a nice weekend! Here are some highlights:

  • Friday, Nathan got contacts! He's been wanting them for about 2 years, so he finally has them. So far, he likes them, but it's taking some getting used to. :) Extra time in the morning too. :)
  • Saturday morning Tim and Nathan both went to a Weapons Class at their TaeKwon-Do studio (Delta TaeKwon-Do). They learned how to use Nunchaks, don't worry they are foam!
  • Saturday afternoon we drove over to Los Medanos College where Nathan and Tim played in a piano 'festival' of contemporary composers. They both played well, and it's always nice to hear a well tuned piano (unlike ours!).
  • Sunday was a great day at church, with a wonderful message from Psalm 27 on putting our focus on CHRIST! It's amazing how we can see Christ so clearly in all of scripture.
  • Today...it's raining! Makes me want to grab some firewood and stay home all day!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! :o)

Whirlwind Disneyland Trip 2/15 - 2/17

What a great time. Imagine besides gas, paying only $11.00 to go to Disneyland! Well... we did. Nathan and I left late Thursday afternoon, off to Jill's parents house, our B&B for Disneyland. And, what adventure to southern California would be complete without a visit to the world famous Original Tommy's - World Famous Hamburgers? http://www.originaltommys.com/ After scarfing down the imaged succulent gut bombs, we arrived to Jill's folks around 11:00 PM. After a quick breakfast Friday morning, our hosts sent us off with $20 Disney dollars, so we paid only $11.00 of our own money to park. Disneyland opened at 8:00 and we were in line by 7:45, tickets in hand, compliments of Valley Pregnancy Center. http://www.valleypregnancycenter.org/ Nathan won two tickets last spring at the annual Walk for Life. By 9:30 we had ridden Star Tours, Space Mountain, Autopia, and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. We only had 14.5 hours left. We spent the day criss crossing the park, partaking of, not necessarily in this order, the above mentioned attractions plus Thunder Mountain (2x), Indiana Jones (2x) the Canoes, Monorail, Horseless Carriage, Pirates, Haunted House, Disney Gallery, Disneyland - the first 50 years with Steve Martin, Golden Horseshoe Stage, Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Tarzan's Treehouse, Bengal BBQ, Matterhorn, Astro Orbitor, Innoventions, Flag Lowering Ceremony, Dapper Dans, Aladdin and Jasmine's Adventure, the 80'z All Stars at the Tomorrowland Terrace (3x), and the most spectacular Fireworks display! After 16+ great hours, we headed back to the B&B (Jill's parents) and crashed. Saturday morning, the Caplingers blessed us with a full breakfast, more accurately breakfeast. We departed a little after 10:00 then visited my parents in Santa Barbara, and returned to Brentwood around 8:00 PM. The Lord truly did oversee our brief odyssey - safe travel, great weather, being in the right place at the right time at Disneyland to catch a show, etc.

Happy Birthday Nathan!!!

Today was Nathan's 15th birthday! Wow, I can't believe it...how the time has flown by! We love you Nathan and are very proud of you. :)

We had a blessed day today, with a wonderful day at church... excellent preaching on Psalm 27 and the importance of faith through prayer, and in the evening a great message specifically to the youth on guarding against the flesh, folly and feelings.

Speaking of the youth...we had them all over today for lunch, and Nathan got to celebrate his birthday with his friends (we had 20 people here total!). It was also another one of the high school girls' birthday (Happy Birthday Kat!)!

Lizzy had another "first" this week...she decided she wanted to learn how to read! So, we pulled out the little readers, only to find that YES...she could already read! Very exciting, and best of all...I didn't have to even try to teach her! haha!

Tim and Dan still live here too; they just didn't make it in the pictures this time. :) Nothing much else happened this week that was very exciting, other than dentist appointments. Those are always SO much fun, right!?

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Ready, set....go! We're off on another week!

Go Lizzy Go!

Lizzy learned how to ride her bike this week WITHOUT training wheels! Way to go Lizzy! Daddy helped her for a little while, and now she's a pro!
